Discover Incline Village

Lake Tahoe, Nevada

Nestled on the quiet north shore of Lake Tahoe, Incline Village is a unique residential resort community.  Stunning natural beauty, limitless recreation and more than 300 sunny days per year make it one of the most desirable places in the world.

A little history...

Incline Village started as a logging community in the mid 1800s and takes its name from the near vertical tramline that carried timber up 1,400 feet, to a V-flume.  The flume ran across the mountaintop, supplying boomtown mines in Virginia City and Washoe Valley.  Logging activity left Incline completely deforested and largely abandoned by 1897, so she took a long nap.

In the late 1950's, Incline Village was awakened by Crystal Bay Development Corporation´s visionary master plan.  The company purchased 9000 acres and began construction that included private beaches, golf courses and a ski resort.  Crystal Bay Development Corporation sold the last of its Incline Village interests to Boise Cascade Corporation in 1968 and a new round of residential development was initiated.

Present day Incline...

In the past 35 years, Incline Village has grown into a healthy, wealthy, distinctive community.  A recreational paradise, surrounded by greenbelt and national forest, "The Jewel of Lake Tahoe" remains true to the master plan with strong architectural, zoning and environmental standards to protect natural beauty.

Because Incline Village is nearly built-out and property values are high, re-modeling and re-building are common and keep the community fresh.  Lakeview and lakefront homes are always in high demand.

Exclusive benefits of living in this mountain paradise...

Private recreational amenities for Incline Village home owners are superbly maintained by Incline Village General Improvement District (IVGID) and include:

Private beaches (Ski Beach, Incline Beach and Burnt Cedar Beach); a boat ramp; two golf courses (Mountain Course and Championship Course); Diamond Peak Ski Resort;

a fully equipped, 3700 square foot recreation center with gym, indoor pool and basketball court; tennis courts; The Chateau Community Building (completely rebuilt in 2004); Aspen Grove picnic area; bike and pedestrian paths.

This pristine mountain community also offers an excellent public school system, outstanding business services and convenient proximity to a number of popular weekend and business destinations.  Despite its intimate size, Incline Village is also home to excellent entertainment, shopping, restaurants, hotels and casinos.

Our permanent population is around 8,500, but expands to nearly 21,000 during major holidays.  Technological advances have made Incline very attractive to the "telecommuter," who no longer needs to live and work in a city environment.

Tax benefits...

Nevada's tax laws are kind to Incline Village residents.  There are no personal or corporate state income taxes for Nevada residents, and no state gift or estate taxes.

Your new Monday in Incline...

Enjoy morning coffee on your deck, take a 5 minute ride to your office (or a one minute walk to your home office), ski or take the boat out in the afternoon, then dine in style with a stunning lake view and a beautiful sunset.  All this, surrounded by tall pines, regal mountains, clean air and blue skies.  Incline Village is an outstanding place to live.  Make it yours.

Mark Twain wrote of Lake Tahoe:

"As it lay there with the shadows of the mountains brilliantly photographed upon its still surface I thought it must surely be the fairest picture the whole earth affords."

-Mark Twain,  Roughing It, chapter XXII
